Hurricane Ida Business Recovery Fund Application

The Hurricane Ida Business Recovery Fund (hereinafter “Fund”) has been established to provide economic stimulus support to businesses and property owners affected by the storm which occurred on September 1, 2021. To be eligible, the property must be located within the Millburn-Short Hills Special Improvement District (SID) and must have suffered demonstrable damage or loss related to materials, equipment, or the structure. 

The Fund is managed by Explore Millburn-Short Hills, the management entity for the Special Improvement District (SID) for the Township of Millburn. Funds are provided from two sources including private donations to “Explore” and the Township reserve account which has been utilized to address emergency issues including natural disasters. Disbursement of the Township reserve portion is contingent on Municipal and State contract approval. Explore is a designated 501c3 non-profit organization (EIN 85-3477595) and is responsible for reviewing all applications and disbursing funds to accepted applicants. 

By submitting this application, you affirm the following:

  1. Your property is located within the boundaries of the SID (list of properties & addresses can be found here)
  2. Your property and/or business suffered damage due to the September 1, 2021 storm
  3. There is a shortfall in insurance coverage/award to remedy losses (documentation required)
  4. Explore reserves the sole discretion to deny any and all applications for any relevant reason
  5. Explore reserves the sole discretion to award amounts in various amounts regardless of requested amount
  6. Explore reserves the right to request additional documentation at time of application and post award
  7. Explore reserves the right to audit all awards for a period of twelve (12) months after award is given
  8. After a period of eight (8) weeks, if the awardee is in violation of any municipal codes or does not begin to make the planned improvements to their location, they will be barred from applying for future funds until these issues are remedied.

Funding will be awarded in four (4) categories: Limited Damage ($1,000), Significant Damage ($2,500), Severe Damage ($5,000), Extreme Damage ($10,000)
